Veterans Day

Dear Ridgecrest Elementary Parents,

We are observing Veterans Day this year on Monday, November 11th, 2019 at 9:15am – 10:00am and YOU are warmly invited to join us for this assembly!

Everyone is encouraged to wear red, white, blue or a military T-shirt to show our patriotic spirit.

We want to acknowledge ALL the Veterans and Active Duty Persons that are affiliated with our Ridgecrest Community!  Please consider these options:

  • Create a poster by decorating. Add a photo and encourage your student to write about the Service Man or Woman you are highlighting.  These posters will be displayed in our hallway outside the Media Center. Return to class teacher by Monday, November 4th.  The PDF is attached in the Ridgecrest Roar.
  • List the name of the Veteran or Active Duty Person in our Assembly Program.* Complete this form: [http://goo.gl/y9V65n].
  • Invite a Veteran or Active Duty Person to attend our Assembly. Encourage them to wear their military uniform and arrive early to attend a light breakfast in our Media Center.*   Complete this form [http://goo.gl/y9V65n].

We look forward to observing this day with you and your children. We especially look forward to THANKING everyone who has served or is serving our country!

*Submit your form and RSVP by Wednesday November 6th midnight!

Ridgecrest Roar

Nov. 10, 2019

Greetings,

I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the sunny weather! We have a busy week that starts off with our Veterans Day assembly tomorrow morning at 9!5. We are also continuing our service project for the Road Home.  Please see below!

Parking lot issues: we are starting to see parking lot issues again. As we prepare for winter it is critical that we all do our part in following the parking lot rules and use kindness and patience with each other.  Please remember if you do not want to use the drop off and pick up lanes, then you need to park and walk over to the crosswalk to pick you your children.  We can’t have children walking through the parking lot on their own.  They are not tall enough to see and we want to keep all our students safe.  Thank you for your help!

NO Chess Club on Monday.  Due to our Veterans Day assembly.

Our annual Veterans Day Assembly is on Monday, Nov. 11th at 9:15.  The community is invited to this assembly.

Attendance issues – A few weeks ago I sent out the attendance policy.  It explains that each student can have vacation days.  In order to have a student be excused for vacation, a vacation form needs to be filled out and prior arrangements with the teachers need to occur.   This needs to be at least a week in advance so that the teachers have time to put homework together.  If the teachers do not have enough notice, they are not able to get work ready and students will not get homework.  Please email the teacher as well as filling out the form so everyone is aware of your vacation.

As a Ridgecrest staff we try to motivate students to follow the school rules, attend school, and participate in class so that learning is optimized. We do this through many different incentives, raffles, and classroom rewards.  All of these incentives are costly.  One easy way to contribute without sending in money is to connect your Smiths and/or Dans frequent shopper numbers to Ridgecrest.  Each time you shop at the grocery store contributes a small amount to Ridgecrest.  Please take a moment to sign up for these two programs. Attached are the directions.  Thank you!

Big Smiles Dental is coming on December 5th.  They will start seeing students who have returned completed forms at 9:00 AM.  Forms went home last Friday.
