Ridgecrest Roar – October 15, 2023

RIDGECREST ROAR October 15, 2023

Good evening Ridgecrest families,

Thank you for all the support during our fundraiser these past two weeks! We have not reached our goal of $26,000 quite yet, but we have definitely closed the gap in the past few days. The fundraiser is open through midnight tonight and we would be very grateful for any last minute donations to help us get there. The students would love to silly string our PTA president and me if we reach our goal! This fundraiser supports all the fun activities that the PTA and the school sponsor, so if you haven’t donated yet, this is your last chance. Please go to www.successfund.com/rrxz.

School Information

Picture Retakes – If your child missed having their picture taken or would like it retaken, their chance is coming up! Picture retakes are scheduled for October 16th. See the attached flier for more information.

Halloween is quickly approaching! – We will be holding our annual Halloween Parade as well as our classroom parties on Tuesday, Oct. 31st. The parade will start at 9:00 inside and we will proceed outside to the parade route by 9:15.  Parents are encouraged to line the parade route and cheer us on. I will attach the parade route in the Oct. 22nd Ridgecrest Roar.

Please help your child to pick an appropriate costume. Here are some guidelines:

  • No face masks or full face paint.  We need to be able to visually identify students in costumes.

  • Costumes that are provocative, revealing, sexual in nature or employ questionable props are not permitted.

  • Costumes that depict violence, alcohol, or drugs are not permitted.  Fake (or real) weapons are not permitted.

  • Costumes that can be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype of someone’s culture, gender, heritage or religion are not permitted.

  • Costumes should not hinder your ability to participate in classes

  • Costumes should include shoes

  • Costumes and dressing up is optional

Digital Citizenship – Canyons School District Digital Citizenship Week will be October 16-18, 2023. Students will partake in activities that empower them to seek balance in their technology use and to be aware of their online actions. Connect with us throughout the week!

From the PTA:

Red and White Ribbon Week- We have red and white ribbon week coming up right after fall break. We will be tying ribbons on the school fence Tuesday, October 24th and are in need of some volunteers to help kids tie the ribbons. We also have some fun activities and would love some candy donations. Please sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084AADAD2EA5FCC16-45079268-redand

Halloween is coming up so be on the lookout for opportunities to sign up to help with the class parties. The room parents should be getting those sign ups out soon through their teachers. Remember if you are wanting to volunteer in the classroom you need to sign up through the district to be a volunteer. Go to https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/depts/external-relations/volunteer/

The approval process needs to be done every year and can take up to 72 hours.

PTA meetings are open to everyone. We meet the 2nd Monday of each month at noon in the conference room in the library. We would love to have anyone that is interested come! Our next meeting is scheduled for November 13th.
