Who We Are
Ridgecrest Elementary has spent 55 years serving families in Cottonwood Heights community. We are the home of the Tigers! Ridgecrest offers many opportunities for diverse learning. We host the Chinese Dual Immersion program as well as Roaring Readers, Ridgecrest Runners, Dragon Dance Troupe, Battle of the Books and two school choirs.
Our Mission
The mission of Ridgecrest is to provide a proactive education of academic excellence where all students achieve in a respectful and safe environment that honors diversity, welcomes community, fosters positive relationships, and facilitates a desire to become a life-long learner and contributing member of society.
2022-2023 Goals
Academic
For the 2023-2022 school year, 70% of Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will make typical or higher growth on the literacy composite as measured by Pathways of Progress in Acadience by spring 2023. 75% of 4th and 5th grade students will meet or exceed expected growth on the Reading Inventory by spring 2023. By Spring 2023, 80% of students in grades K-5 will make typical or higher growth on the math composite as measured by Pathways of Progress in Acadience.
School Climate
Ridgecrest will reduce the number of office referrals by 10 % in the 2022-2023 school year. This will reduce the amount of time students are out of class, not engaged in learning. We will do this by focusing on:
- Social Emotional Learning and supports that will be guided by SRSSIE data
- Increasing our positive to corrective feedback ratio as determined by Ipop data
- Increasing opportunities for student community building
