Ridgecrest Elementary School Community Council

Monthly Meeting Agenda

  • Call to Order – 4:07 p.m.
    In Attendance: Carrie Christensen, Sara Allen, Jeanne Herbert, Fengmin Lii, Cort Bouldin, Chris Hettich, Sammy Fan, and Anna Whiteley

Absent: Stephanie McCabe, Elias Perez, Brooke Schneider, and Alex Gibbs

  • Finish roster information; update on website/and submit to Susan Edwards
  • Training Reminder- 
    • Trainings days/times below (Last Training is Oct. 8th from 10-11:30 am or 6:00-7:30 pm)
  • Preliminary final report for last year’s LAND Trust plan
    •  Landtrust – $6,000 rolled over from last year
    • TSSP – $7540 rolled over
    • 2023-2024 Reading: 
      • 4th and 5th grade within 1%  of goa, 1-3rd 5% from goal, Kindergarten 5% from goal.  
      • Made great gains in basic skills.  Struggling with the students applying the skills independently.
    • 2023-2034 Math
      • 74% at Benchmark, 71% making accelerated growth
    • 2023-20204 Attendance – students with less then 2.5 days absence per quarter
      • 66% term one 
      • 73% term two
      • 44% term three
      • 52% term four
  • Last year’s remaining cell phone money 
    • Last years money being rolled over into Principal Discretionary Fund – approved by SCC
      • Used for Staff Meetings, Incentives, and a Holiday Party
      • Approved by SCC Members: Carrie Christensen, Jeanne Herbert, Fengmin Li, Cort Bouldin, Christopher Hettich, Sammy Fan, and Anna Whiteley
  • New Data and Overview of current year TSSP, Positive Behavior Plan, (Sara Allen) 
    • New Data: Currently collecting data due to later test dates.   
      • Beginning with higher scores compared to past years
    • Current Budgets
      • TSSP: $132,000 
        • Hire additional staff for School Aide to assist during lunch and with additional student needs
      • Landtrust: Have not received final budget 
      • Positive Behavior Plan
        • Based on Social Emotional Screeners from district and school
        • Required pieces:
          • Botvin (4th grade) 
          • Morning Meetings
          • Use of Restorative Practices
          • Coaching Cycles with a focus on 4:1 positive to corrective ratio of feedback
          • Thrive Time fully implemented
          • Systematic implementation of Tier 1 PBIS
        • Extra 
          • At least 2 parent/community nights to build community
          • Before/After School programs: Chess, Book Blitz, Running Club, STEAM Squad, and Choir, 
          • Service and Leadership Opportunities: Jr. Coaches, Safety Patrol, and Student Council
  • School Safety, Digital Citizenship, & Safe Walking Plans: Review last year’s plans and begin writing 
    • Due Nov. 1

    • Need to complete report and decide on greatest safety concern for the school 
      • Look through information for further discussion next meeting

      • will continue with systems and education that has been in place and will discuss more at next meeting

      • Drop Off/Pick-up Route 
        • Cars turning left at exit
        • Students crossing the street by the church rather than the crosswalk
      • Need to think and answer the following at next meeting: 
        • Concerns for CSD to address
        • Concerns for Community to address (city, utility, etc)
        • Concerns for Infrastructure Changes (lights, sidewalks and signs). 
      • To invite to the October meeting for input

  • Additional school climate updates or principal report

 

  • Supporting students and staff the best we can; being sensitive to everyone’s needs and seeking help with admin or with Allie Teller. 
  • BLT will begin “Shadow the Student” project
    • The goal is to gain an understanding of what it means to be a student at Ridgecrest
    • Six teachers will shadow six students. 
    • The students will vary by grade level and will represent the diverse population of students at Ridgecrest.
  • Threat Hoaxes – district is addressing with the community
  • Marquee – currently in the process of being repaired

 

  • Next meeting Wed., October 23rd 
    • If time will look at USBE School Report Card that will released at the end of September

SCC Training 2024-25

September 18, 2024:                  

  • 9 a.m. – 9:45 Basic SCC Training for new members and those wanting a refresher
  • 10-11:30 a.m.: General SCC Training for all members
  • 5:30 – 6:15 pm Basic SCC Training; General training 6:30 – 8 pm 

 

October 3, 2024:

  • 1-2:30 p.m. General SCC Training for all members
  • 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. Basic SCC Training for new members and those wanting a refresher
  • 6:30 – 8 p.m. General SCC Training for all members

 

October 8, 2024:

  • 10 – 11:30 a.m. General SCC Training for all members
  • 6 – 7:30 p.m. General SCC Training for all members 

*All of the above trainings will be in the Canyons Center at the District office, 9361 S. 300 East, Sandy

*Additional training may be required for Chair and Vice Chair after the election meeting.
