Ridgecrest Roar – October 10, 2021

RIDGECREST ROAR      Oct. 10, 2021

Good evening Ridgecrest families,

We are headed into a short week this week.  We have fall break on Thursday and Friday, so there will be no school.  Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday willl be regular days and we will get out at 3:20. I also wanted you to know that our lost and found is full again.  As cooler temperatures arrive, I know some of  you would like to have sweatshirts and jackets back home.  Teachers are going to walk students past the lost and found, but please encourage your student to look for any lost items.  You are also welcome to come in and look if you know you are missing an item. We will donate the lost and found to a charity on Wednesday of this week.

Halloween is quickly approaching!

We will be holding our annual Halloween Parade as well as our classroom parties on Friday, Oct. 29th. The parade will start at 9:00 inside and we will proceed outside to the parade route by 9:15.  Parents are encouraged to line the parade route and cheer us on. I will attach the parade route in the Oct. 24th Ridgecrest Roar.

Please help your child to pick an appropriate costume. Here are some guidelines:

  • No face masks or full face paint.  We need to be able to visually identify students in costumes.
  • Costumes that are provocative, revealing, sexual in nature or employ questionable props are not permitted.
  • Costumes that depict violence, alcohol, or drugs are not permitted.  Fake (or real) weapons are not permitted.
  • Costumes that can be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype of someone’s culture, gender, heritage or religion are not permitted.
  • Costumes should not hinder your ability to participate in classes
  • Costumes should include shoes
  • Costumes and dressing up is optional

PTA Information:

  1. Parents, we are in need of some candy donations for Red and White Ribbon week.  We have 520 students and we plan to pass out participation treats for 4 of the 5 days. We want to encourage participation and hope that some of you can donate bags of candy as you are at the store in the next few weeks.  If you would like to donate, please sign up on this link. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B094DADA628ABFF2-parent
  2. Final Week for Reflections Entries! Due Monday, 10/18. See below for more details.
  3. Twisted Sugar Community Fundraising on Wednesday, 10/20. If you go to Twisted Sugar on this day and mention Ridgecrest Elementary, they will donate a portion of the sales to our school.
  4. Ridgecrest T-shirts, hoodies, and hats are coming soon! Due to items out of stock in September and now work force issues, their printing has been delayed.  We will get them to you as soon as we can. Thank you all for your patience.
  5. Thank you to all who have joined PTA so far!!  You can still join. Please know that joining PTA has no requirement to volunteer. Also joining at a different school does not join you at Ridgecrest. https://ridgecrest.memberhub.com/store
