RIDGECREST ROAR May 7, 2023
Good evening Ridgecrest families,
We had the opportunity to say thank you this week to all the volunteers that have helped our PTA to accomplish fantastic things this year including the Fun Run, Spelling Bees, and our fantastic Chinese New Year celebration. We are truly grateful for the community partnership we have with all of you!
School Information
Lost and Found – We will be donating our lost and found on the last day of school at noon. There are currently several nice winter coats in the lost and found. Please remind your child to check the lost and found this week.
Drop Off and Pick Up – Please remember there are no adults supervising children before 8:15 AM or after 3:30 PM. Please do not drop your children off before 8:15 unless it is for a designated event that is supervised and prearranged. It is not safe for children to be at the school unsupervised in the morning. This is also true after school. Adults have meetings and are unavailable after 3:30 PM. Parents are required to have arrangements made for children to be picked up by this time. We appreciate your help with this.
Race to Reduce Bullying – When: Saturday, May 20th, 9 am at Wheeler Park
Coach Angi would like to invite all of our friends to join in this fun event Playworks Utah is putting on. If you’d like to support them and participate in a FREE 5K at Wheeler Farm. You can run, walk, or stroll your way around the farm, all in an effort to end bullying. Click the link below to register.

Library Books – All library books are due this week on May 12th. Please help your child to find and return their books this week.
PTA News:
Hi Ridgecrest Families,
Our next and last PTA Meeting for this school year is tomorrow at noon in the Media Center. Please join us! We will be voting on our amended bylaws as well as going over events for the rest of the school year.
Our last Community Partnership Night will be this Wednesday, May 10th at Zao Asian Cafe. It will be all day!
We are still looking for helpers with our upcoming Field Days. Kindergarten Field Day is on May 22nd and then Field Day for grades 1-5 is on May 23rd. If you are interested in being on the planning committee (WE NEED YOU!), please email us at ridgecrest1pta@gmail.com.
We are in the final stages of collecting notes and letters to Ms. Blaser. She will be retiring at the end of this school year. She has taught at Ridgecrest for 15 years. We have been so lucky to have had her teach so many of our students. If you would like to join us in showing our gratitude for Ms. Blaser, there is a bucket in the office to drop off letters and such for her.
If you haven’t taken our Needs Assessment survey yet, please take it now. Your input matters! To help us better serve our school community, please take this short survey and have your voice heard. It should only take 5 minutes or less, and will help our PTA in preparation for next school year.

Information previously shared that still might be helpful:
Next Year Changes – We are currently making plans for next year. If you know your child/children will not be returning to Ridgecrest next year it would be helpful for us to know. Please let your child’s teacher and/or the front office know if there are changes you are aware of.
Sweepers – Ridgecrest is looking to hire some sweepers to help clean our building for 2 hours in the afternoons each day. We have several open positions with a starting wage of $10.73 / hr. Applications are available in our front office.
Toys stay home – As a reminder, we ask students to leave all personal toys/items in their backpack during the day to reduce theft and conflict. This includes during recess. We provide recess equipment for students to use. We would appreciate you helping with this by checking your child’s backpack to make sure they are leaving personal toys at home.
Breakfast – Just a reminder that we stop serving breakfast once the school day starts at 8:40. If your children enjoy breakfast with us in the morning, please make sure they are here with enough time to eat breakfast and get to class before the 8:45 tardy bell. Breakfast is served each day starting at 8:15 AM.
