Ridgecrest Roar – March 6, 2022

RIDGECREST ROAR              March 6th, 2022

Good evening Ridgecrest families,

It was a pleasure to see so many of you in our building for conferences and to have the opportunity to celebrate the great things your children are doing each day. Thank you for your support of our Book Fair. The students love exploring the new book selections and your purchase helps provide funds that we use to help new teachers build classroom libraries for your kids. Also, a big thank you to our PTA who provided dinners for our teachers and ran the book fair. We are very grateful for the help and support they provide us!

School Information

Early out on Friday – Our Friday schedule has been tricky to keep up with this year. We do have school this Friday and, as a reminder, school gets out early. Kindergarten excuses students at 10:45 AM for their morning group. The bell rings for everyone else to leave at 1:40 PM.

Kindergarten Orientation – We are getting excited to welcome our newest Tigers! If you have a child who will be joining us for kindergarten next year, or if you know someone who does, please spread the message. We will be holding our Kindergarten Orientation at 1 PM on March 25th in our school gym.

Choir – We are thrilled to announce that the Ridgecrest Choir is returning! The choir is open to any student in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade who wants to sing. No audition is required. The tentative schedule is as follows:

  • 4th and 5th grade rehearse on TUESDAY mornings from 8:00-8:35.
  • 3rd grade rehearses on THURSDAY mornings from 8:00-8:35.

We may need to adjust this depending on the number of students who are interested. If your child would like to participate, please register using this link: https://forms.gle/XyyGnz9nxbUV38rM9

Rehearsals will start this week, on March 8 and 10. Please note that only choir members are allowed in the building at these times. Friends and younger siblings will need to wait to enter until the usual school start time. If you have any questions, contact Ms. Longhurst at sherise.longhurst@canyonsdistrict.org.

Water Bottles Needed – As the weather warms up students are drinking more water. Please send your child with a water bottle if possible. We have water fill stations throughout the building to keep their bottles full.

Morning Line Up – Just a reminder, as weather shifts with the seasons, that students will line up outside in the mornings unless the weather is very wet, or it is less than 23 degrees outside. Please help your child come prepared with appropriate layers so they aren’t caught unprepared in our unpredictable Spring weather.

Zones of Regulation – This week our teachers will review the lessons learned so far and provide extra practice for our students with the skills they have learned. If you would like to review how we are describing and learning to manage our big emotions please visit Miss Allie’s Canvas page at: https://canyons.instructure.com/courses/1459254

Information that was previously shared but might still be helpful:

Kindergarten Registration – If you have a child that will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2022, the child qualifies for kindergarten this fall. State law requires that all school districts in Utah abide by the same September 1st entrance cut-off date.

If you have an incoming kindergarten student, please begin the registration process by following the steps outlined on our website. The link can be found here.

Intent to Return – Please help us to better plan for the next school year by completing the Intent to Return form if you are not planning to return to Ridgecrest next year. A paper form was sent home last week. There is also a digital option for you found here. Please complete one or the other.
