RIDGECREST ROAR January 22, 2023
Good evening Ridgecrest families,
We are approaching our 100th day of school for this school year! It always surprises me how quickly the mid-year mark arrives. Our students have been working hard on mid-year assessments and our teachers have been reviewing their progress.
I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their patience and flexibility as we have adjusted traffic flow in front of our building. We notice the kindness demonstrated by most of you and appreciate the way you model safe behavior for our children. Thank you for your continued support of our community. We could not do what we do without you.
School Information
Kindergarten Registration – If you have a child that will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2023, the child qualifies for kindergarten this fall. State law requires that all school districts in Utah abide by the same September 1st entrance cut-off date.
If you have an incoming kindergarten student, please begin the registration process by following the steps outlined on our website. Here is a direct link to that information.
Intent to Return – Please help us to better plan for the next school year by completing the Intent to Return form if you are not planning to return to Ridgecrest next year. A paper form will be sent home at the beginning of the week. There is also a digital option for you found here. Please complete one or the other.
Teacher of the Year – It is time once again to recognize the teachers at Ridgecrest who make such a difference in the lives of our students through the Teacher of the Year nomination process. Please click on the link below to nominate the teachers who have made a difference to your child this year. You can fill out the link multiple times if you are interested in nominating more than one teacher. More information about this process can be found here, and the nomination form is found here.
Spelling Bee – The Ridgecrest Spelling Bee is here! The school-wide competition is tomorrow, January 23rd. You are welcome to join us in the gym as the top three winners from each class compete. Our 1st – 3rd grade students will compete at 9:00 AM and our 4th-5th grade students will compete at 1:30 PM. Good luck to all our spellers!
Chinese New Year – All of the Ridgecrest community is invited to join us for the return of the Ridgecrest Chinese New Year Celebration! This festive event will take place on Thursday, February 2nd from 6-8pm. Please see the attached flier for details.

Parking Lot – Tips and Tricks
To help everyone’s drop off and pick-up be smoother, please consider the following.
- Pull forward as far as possible and use the entire length of the curb for drop off. This includes the space past the crosswalk. Remember, all cars behind you will be stopped until you move forward.
- We need all students ready to exit their car BEFOREyou get to the drop off curb.
- The outer lane will be used for you to pull out AFTER your child exits the car.
- Our exit requires right turns only (onto 7200 S) during drop off and pick up times. This is required to keep our traffic flow moving. Please be courteous to everyone waiting behind you.
