RIDGECREST ROAR August 28, 2022
Good evening Ridgecrest families,
We are so grateful to our PTA and parent volunteers! They have worked to support our school in many ways as we have started this school year. We truly appreciate the work that you all do. Also, our school fundraiser is coming up soon and we will have more information for you next week.
School Information
School Safety Parent Night – Canyons School District and Cottonwood Heights City are hosting a School Safety Parent Night on September 7th at 6 PM in the Butler Middle School auditorium and you are invited. We would like to address questions or concerns you may have as a parent/guardian regarding safety in your child’s school. Please share questions that you would like addressed before September 6th using this formhttps://forms.gle/TGwBbDpFFyy2kPnG8.
Drop off and pick up:
Parents, we have a couple reminders for you about drop off and pick up. Please help us to keep everyone safe.:
- All parents need to wait in their cars or on the curb near the parking lot when picking up children. Parents, please do not come across the crosswalk. It makes it more difficult for us to monitor the safety of all children when we have more people in that area. Please be kind to our staff who are doing the best they can to be helpful and keep your children safe.
- There are no left turns allowed out of our parking areas and drive throughs during pick up and drop off hours. This helps traffic flow more quickly. It is also important because our buses must be able to get through. Please do not block this area. (See attached pictures.)
Community Recycling –Ridgecrest has a recycling bin, painted with a tiger, housed on the east side of the building. This is a resource to our community, so please feel free to use it. The following guidelines need to be followed so we can continue to enjoy this resource:
- The dumpster is for cardboard and paper only. Please break down all cardboard boxes. If the box is extremely large, please cut the box in half.
- The dumpster is NOT for Styrofoam, laminated papers of any kind, wrapping paper, construction debris, or garbage.
Junior Coaches – Our Junior Coach applications process is open for 4th and 5th grade students. Junior Coaches help manage playground equipment, support younger students during recess, and learn valuable leadership skills. All applications are due this Monday, August 29th.
Information previously shared that still might be helpful
Donors Choose: is a program that allows teachers to request help with specific wants and needs for their classrooms. Teachers at Ridgecrest have some creative ideas they could use your help with. If you are interested in donating to help our teachers see the attached link: Donors Choose Ridgecrest .
Champions: Give your kids a boost with Champions!
We’re at Ridgecrest before and after school to give your kids help with homework, STEM projects, all sorts of crafts and fun activities. Unlike other daycares, we’re inside the school so drop off and pick up is so much easier. And your child is already in a place they’re familiar with.
You can sign your kids up for just remote learning days, in-service days, or 1-5 days a week. You aren’t stuck to a schedule; it can change every week if you need it to.
Contact Jessica Nelson (Site Director) at 385-233-1900 or ch002152@discoverchampions.com with any questions or simply go to DiscoverChampions.com to learn more! See more information on the attached flier.
