Principal’s Message:
Good evening Ridgecrest families,
It has been heartwarming to see our students settling into their routines, reconnecting with friends, and embracing the joy of learning as we start a new school year. We spent time this past week reviewing the rules and expectations for everyone at Ridgecrest and your children are doing a fantastic job. We have also continued to have families and students enrolling at Ridgecrest. So, if you are new to our community we want to welcome you! Ridgecrest is a great place to be.
Personal Technology at School
As a reminder, our school policy states that all internet enabled personal technology must be turned off and remain in student backpacks through the school day. This includes all cell phones and smartwatches. These items may not be worn or used during the day. If a child needs to contact a parent, we ask that they do so in the front office. This is in alignment with the new state law SB178 and our district policies. Thanks for helping us with this.
Junior Coaches
Junior Coach applications are going home this week. Any 4th or 5th grade student that would like to apply for our leadership program needs to have the application filled out and signed by their adult. Return applications to their teacher or Coach Angi by Wednesday, August 27th. Once applications are reviewed our 2025-2026 team will be notified if they have been selected to the program.
Canyons Family Center
Register now for free parenting classes, student support groups
The Canyons Family Center has begun accepting registrations for its fall lineup of classes for parents and students. Located at Mt. Jordan Middle School, the Center is a free resource for all Canyons District families.
Class topics range from how to cope with ADHD and anxiety to building self-esteem. In addition, classes can be taken to resolve student disciplinary records and fines. Families can also register for intakes for counseling services or referral to private mental health providers. “The Family Center is a place where families come together to discover genuine avenues to assist each other, connect with each other, and learn from each other,” said Canyons District Prevention Specialist Kelly Redican. Fall courses begin the week of Sept. 23. To register and learn more, visit canyonsdistrict.org. Questions? Center staff are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 801-826-8190.
Attendance and Ridgecrest Code of Conduct
Teachers handed out our attendance policy and our Ridgecrest Code of Conduct at Back to School Night. If you haven’t read, signed, and returned these documents to your child’s teacher, please do so as soon as possible. They are also attached here.
Safe Pick Up and Drop Off
We need your help to have our drop off and pick up be safe and quick for everyone. Our main goal is child safety. Please follow these simple guidelines.
- First, when using the drop off and pick up lane, please have your child exit out the right hand side of your car once you are next to the sidewalk. You may need to move a car seat or other items out of the way to accommodate this. Parents, please do not exit your car or let your child out on the traffic side. This is very dangerous.
- We prefer that you use our drop of lanes for drop off. However, if you choose to use the parking lot to drop off your child, you must walk your child to the crosswalk. Children are too small to be easily seen by drivers without an adult and we have had too many near misses. Also, if you are late, there may not be an adult to help at the crosswalk and you will need to help your child to safely cross.
- Antczak park is not on school property. If you have your child leave campus to wait for you, there isn’t supervision and we can no longer be responsible for their safety.
Please see the attached diagram to help you understand how our drop off and pick up should flow.
From Our PTA
Hello Ridgecrest Families!
We are looking forward to our Community Picnic Tuesday, August 26th from 5-8pm at Anctzak Park. Bring a picnic or grab Dominos on your way. Kona Ice snow cones will be available for purchase at the park. Dominos and Kona Ice donate a portion of sales to our PTA. Don’t plan to buy pizza/snow cones? Come anyway to play and visit. All community members welcome. (Flyer attached)
Thank you for sending in your student’s t-shirt sizes. We are excited to see all the students on the day of the Fun Run (Friday, Sept 12). We will be sending out a sign-up genius link in a future ROAR for help that morning.
