Principal’s Message:
Good evening Ridgecrest families,
Thank you for a wonderful evening together, enjoying the amazing talents of our Ridgecrest Tigers at this year’s talent show. We also want to say thank you to our PTA for organizing this event and to our staff members who emceed the event. It was such a fun event.
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming soon. Please watch for more information to come to you soon so we can all say thank you for the excellent work our teachers and staff provide all year long.
Harry Potter Lunchtime Fun
Our Nutrition Services Department is hosting a Harry Potter themed lunch this upcoming Wednesday. Our cafeteria staff has worked with this theme all year long to help the cafeteria be a fun place to be.
This coming Wednesday, April 23rd, we are inviting all students to dress up for the Harry Potter lunch if they would like. Or, students can wear red, yellow, green, or blue in honor of the Hogwart’s house colors in Harry Potter.
Digital Citizenship Message for April
Teaching our students to be alert online is just as important as teaching them to look both ways before crossing the street. Here’s what being alert looks like in the digital world:
Pause Before You Post: Encourage your student to think twice before sharing anything online. Does it spread kindness? Does it protect their privacy?
Spot the Red Flags: Help them recognize unsafe websites, suspicious links, and messages from strangers. Not everything online is what it seems.
Create Safe Spaces: Talk about how their online actions affect others. Being respectful and positive makes the internet a safer place for everyone. As a reminder, CSD parents/guardians have access to the CSD Technology Portal at https://tcp.canyonsdistrict.org/Links to an external site.to view and modify the Internet filtering level for their student(s), view flagged search terms, view Chromebook login time and request sites to be reviewed.
Reading Challenge Update
We have another update for you on our Million Minute Reading Challenge:We have read a total of 534,159 total minutes this year. We have 94% of our students participating on Beanstack. Of all students participating in this challenge, Ridgecrest is currently ranked #3 in Utah and #1 in Canyons School District! So exciting.
Please also remember, that by logging minutes in Beanstack through May 1st, your child has the chance to win a $1000 scholarship account through my529 and the Road to Success program.
Happy Reading!
Smith’s Inspiring Donations
Smith’s Inspiring Donations program has earned $404.39 for our school in the past quarter. This came from the 98 households who signed up for this program and directed their donation to Ridgecrest. Thank you! Here is a link to their website if you are interested in signing up as well. It is an easy way to make a difference for our community.
From Our PTA
Hello Ridgecrest Families,
Last week was such a nice week coming back from Spring Break. We had our final Book Blitz Jr. Competition with the 3rd grade teams and they did amazing. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Talent Show last Friday. It is inspiring to see all the talent of our students, it takes a lot of courage and grit to get up on stage in a big auditorium and perform, kudos. Also all the art submission were a sight to behold. And we really appreciate our volunteers that helped make the Talent Show a success. Ridgecrest really blows it out of the park.
End of Year The end of the school year always seems to fly by so pay attention to the dates of everything coming up. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5th – May 9th; please look forward to communication concerning the fun activities we have planned that week to honor and celebrate our incredible teachers and staff at Ridgecrest.
