RIDGECREST ROAR April 16, 2023
Good evening Ridgecrest families, Our students have been playing excitedly outside this week now that our snow has melted, and the fields are available! I want to take a moment to recognize the work that our recess team and teachers do to create opportunities for students to participate in many fun and different activities during recess. We know with more students engaged in structured play, conflict and behavior problems decrease, and more kids are included and having fun. Our team keeps activities changing and fresh during recess and we are so grateful to them.
School Information Attendance – We averaged 94% of students present and on time in the mornings this past week. I love that we are seeing better and better attendance as our year goes on. Thank you for your efforts to have your children at school!
Digital Citizenship Monthly Tip – It can be difficult to keep up with the apps, games, and websites that are popular with kids. Common Sense’s Parents’ Ultimate Guides can help keep you up to date and answer your questions about all the latest platforms and trends. Visit Common Sense Media to explore the Parents’ Ultimate Guides for Roblox, Discord, Minecraft, Snapchat, TikTok, Fortnite, or Instagram. (www.commonsense.org/education)
Drop off and pick up friendly reminders and updates – Please remember that we are all working toward the same goal of safe pick up and drop off for our children. Please plan for enough time that you can focus on safety and allow for the 10 minutes it may take to work through our driveway area safely. A couple other items to be aware of:
PTA News: Hi Ridgecrest Families, Can you believe we are halfway through April already? The end of this school year is quickly approaching. Check out the calendar below to see important upcoming events. Next week (April 24th-28th), we will be celebrating Teacher & Admin Appreciation Week. During the week, we will be showing our appreciation for all of Ridgecrest’s amazing teachers and staff. They do so much for our students, and we are excited to show them our appreciation. The theme this year is…Star Wars!!! Keep an eye out for more information coming from your Room Parent(s) with information on your teacher’s favorite things. Also, if you are able, we would love help in providing our teachers and staff with some extra treats. Here is the link to the Signup Genius for items that the Teacher Appreciation Week committee is requesting to help with activities and treats: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0949A8AD2DA1FC1-ridgecrest5 Have you heard? One of our awesome teachers, Ms. Blaser, is retiring at the end of this school year. She has taught at Ridgecrest for 15 years. We have been so lucky to have had her teach so many of our students, and we are sad to see her go. If you would like to join us in showing our gratitude for Ms. Blaser, there is a bucket in the office to drop off letters for her. We need your input! To help us better serve our school community, please take this short survey and have your voice heard. It should only take 5 minutes or less and will help our PTA in preparation for next school year. https://forms.gle/Vm2VbHahhez2VCRd8 Have a great week, Your Ridgecrest Elementary PTA 2022-23 Board
