Ridgecrest Roar – October 22, 2023

RIDGECREST ROAR October 22, 2023

Good evening Ridgecrest families,

I am so grateful to be part of the Ridgecrest community. It is amazing to see the way we pull together for our children. Thank you very much for the generosity shown to our school community during our fundraiser, and the trust you show us each day. Our wonderful PTA worked tirelessly to gather donations from our local businesses, provide incentive prizes for students and teachers, and make it a fun week for our kids. Our final total was $21,028.75! This will go a long way to helping us fund extra activities for our children. Thank you!

This week is Red and White Ribbon Week. Our PTA has provided information below about our daily events. It should be a lot of fun!

PLEASE NOTE – We do not have school for students on Monday, Oct. 23rd. This is a scheduled teacher work day. Students will return from their fall break on Tuesday morning.

School Information

Donations from Smith’s- We currently have 74 families who have registered their Smith’s card to our school. Thank you! The Smith’s inspiring donations program donates .5% of all purchases with registered cards to our school which has earned over $270 for our school so far this school year. If you would like to  register your Smith’s card please click the following link Smith’s Inspiring Donations.

Halloween is quickly approaching! – We will be holding our annual Halloween Parade as well as our classroom parties on Tuesday, Oct. 31st. The parade will start at 9:00 inside and we will proceed outside to the parade route by 9:20.  Parents are encouraged to line the parade route and cheer us on. Our parade route is attached. Thank you to our CHPD for helping to keep us safe on the neighborhood roads.

Please help your child to pick an appropriate costume. Here are some guidelines:

  • No face masks or full face paint.  We need to be able to visually identify students in costumes.

  • Costumes that are provocative, revealing, sexual in nature or employ questionable props are not permitted.

  • Costumes that depict violence, alcohol, or drugs are not permitted.  Fake (or real) weapons are not permitted.

  • Costumes that can be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype of someone’s culture, gender, heritage or religion are not permitted.

  • Costumes should not hinder your ability to participate in classes

  • Costumes should include shoes

  • Costumes and dressing up is optional

Digital Citizenship – As part of celebrating Digital Citizenship Week, Ridgecrest held an assembly provided by Net Positive, a group whose focus is using digital resources to make our lives more positive. They provided many helpful tips to our students and resources we can share with families. The first one is about gaming safety and is attached to this post.
