Ridgecrest Roar – November 20, 2022

RIDGECREST ROAR   November 20, 2022

Good evening Ridgecrest families,

As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to say thank you to our community for sharing your amazing children with us each week. I am grateful to serve the families, and staff of Ridgecrest and appreciate the chance to do the great work that we do each week. I hope each of you get to spend quality time with your friends and family during this holiday week.

We also want to acknowledge the outpouring of support we received from our community during the past 2 weeks. It has made it possible for us to provide support through the winter season for many families. We could not have done this without the incredible generosity that has been shown.

This will be a short week; we only have school on Monday and Tuesday. If your children are going to be absent, please call the office and let us know.

There will not be a newsletter next weekend. The next Roar will be sent to you on Dec. 4.

School Information

Attendance – We have been sharing information and tips about attendance recently because it is an important goal for our school community. The first step for developing the skills our children need is to help them come to school on time each day and to carefully assess if students are too sick to come to school or not. It is a tricky balance. Right now, we only have 36% of our students who are on track to meet the school goal of missing 8 or fewer days this school year. We are hoping to improve on this.

Thanksgiving Family Assistance – Attached is information about an option for Thanksgiving support if your family could use a little help this year.

Report Cards – Nov. 11th marked the end of our first trimester and report cards were sent home on Friday. Please make sure to check your child’s backpack for that information and hopefully you can find some time this weekend to review their progress and celebrate the growth they have demonstrated so far this school year.

PTA News:

Hi Ridgecrest Families!

Our long holiday weekend is almost here!

We have several families interested in starting up Chess Club again. We need a parent volunteer to help run this though. Please complete the attached form if you or your student are interested in Chess Club. https://forms.gle/BduwHx7ovTEakMPb8

Mark your calendars! Our next PTA meeting will be on Monday, December 12th at noon in the Media Center. We will be electing our Nominating Committee, and we need you and your vote! We need two non-board PTA members to serve on this committee, and these members are elected by the general PTA membership. Members who are elected to be on the Nominating Committee cannot be on the PTA board next year though.

Also, now is a great time to be thinking about our next year’s PTA board. Are you willing to help out so we can continue with some awesome events and programs? Make sure to let us know if you would like to be on the PTA board next year or if you have someone in mind that you would like to nominate. Please email us at ridgecrest1pta@gmail.com with your nominations.

Since there is no school on Friday this week, there will be no Tiger Spirit reward this week.

Have a safe and amazing week,

Your Ridgecrest Elementary PTA 2022-23 Board
