Good evening Ridgecrest families,
There will not be a Roar next week so I have tried to include as much information as I can about upcoming events. This is a busy time of year, and we have a lot of information for you.
Congratulations to our spelling bee winner Evangeline Yeo. It was a hard-fought competition with some very impressive spelling. Thank you to all our students who studied, practiced, and then bravely participated in this competition.
School Information
Chinese New Year – All the Ridgecrest community is invited to join us for the return of the Ridgecrest Chinese New Year Celebration! This festive event will take place on Thursday, February 2nd from 6-8pm. Please see the attached flier for details.
Our PTA works hard on this event and many volunteers are needed to help make this event a success. Please sign up at this link. Former Ridgecrest DLI students ages 14 and older are also welcomed to sign up to help out at our booths. 2023ChineseNewYearFlyer-Rabbit
Teacher of the Year- Due February 6th. Please nominate our wonderful teachers! The due date is approaching. It is a little effort that goes a long way. To nominate a teacher who has made a difference for your child this year, click on the link below. You can fill out the link multiple times if you are interested in nominating more than one teacher. More information about this process can be found here, and the nomination form is found here.
Parent Teacher Conferences – Scheduling for Parent Teacher Conferences will open on Monday February 6th. Conferences will be held on March 1st and 2nd in the evenings. Our DLI classes will also hold conferences during the daytime Monday – Thursday of that week. Please see individual teacher schedules for specific date and time availability. Please note that school will release at 1:40 PM on Thursday March 2nd and there is no school held on March 3rd. Please sign up for your opportunity to speak to your child’s teachers as soon as possible. Available spots are first come first serve. Parent instructions are attached. Kindergarten Registration – If you have a child that will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2023, the child qualifies for kindergarten this fall. State law requires that all school districts in Utah abide by the same September 1st entrance cut-off date.
If you have an incoming kindergarten student, please begin the registration process by following the steps outlined on our website. Here is a direct link to that information.
Sweepers – Ridgecrest is looking to hire some sweepers to help clean our building for 2 hours in the afternoons each day. We have several open positions with a starting wage of $10.73 / hr. Applications are available in our front office.
Intent to Return – Please help us to better plan for the next school year by completing the Intent to Return form if you are not planning to return to Ridgecrest next year. A paper form will be sent home at the beginning of the week. There is also a digital option for you found here. Please complete one or the other.
Chess Champions – Our PTA will be hosting the Chess Champions, a before school activity, starting in February. To participate, families need to sign up by completing the form found at this link. For more information please contact Brooke Schneider at brookeyschneid26@gmail.com.
Valentine’s Day class parties are coming soon. This year we are making a shift in how valentines are collected. We are creating all valentines’ boxes and bags at school. This will help us to make sure everyone has the opportunity to make something wonderful and creative. See your child’s classroom newsletter for specific information about what this will look like.
